Linkage with Iran

Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) International Relations with Iran

Pakistan and Iran have signed an MoU on S&T cooperation and Programme of Cooperation (PoC) in 2002 and 2007, respectively. The first meeting of the Iran- Pakistan Expert Committee on Science, Technology and Education was held in May, 2016 at Islamabad. Both sides agreed on many concrete proposals to strengthen S & T collaboration between the two countries such as joint research projects, organizing joint meetings, seminars, conferences and exchange of experts. In this connection following two initiatives were started;

Call for Joint Proposals with Iran

Under Programme of Cooperation (PoC) signed between Pakistan and Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, (MSRT) Iran for joint research activities. Joint call for joint proposals with MSRT, Iran was launched between 15.11.2016 and 25.01.2017. Proposals were invited in the field of Engineering and Material Sciences, Nanotechnology, Biotechnology & Genetic Engineering and Natural Resources Engineering. PSF in collaboration with University of Sistan and Baluchestan (USB), Zadehan, Iran organized a joint conference on Biotechnology at University of Sistan and Baluchestan (USB) on April 18-19, 2016.

Chairman, PSF Dr. Muhammad Ashraf participated in the "1st International Joint Conference on New Trends in Biotechnology" and delivered presidential and key note speech on "Biotechnological and Physiological Tools for Improving Stress (salt) tolerance in Crops.
