Science Caravan Multan Unit

The Multan Unit, like its sister units, is a mobile science exhibition — essentially a specially outfitted bus that carries working scientific models, lab equipment for physics/chemistry/biology experiments, computers, multimedia resources, and a portable planetarium (“star-lab”) for astronomy shows and demonstrations. The purpose is to bring interactive science education to schools and communities in and around Multan (especially rural or under-resourced areas), giving students access to experiments and scientific displays they might not otherwise have.

Over the years, the Multan Unit has arranged numerous exhibitions and science-outreach events. For example:

• The unit remains active: in 2024, the Multan Unit celebrated World Science Day for Peace and Development by organising a science quiz at a higher-secondary school on Bosan Road, Multan.
• In January 2017, it held an exhibition at a school in Multan (GGHSS Tatay Pur), attended by around 1,020 students and 25 teachers.
• In November 2016, the unit organized exhibitions at Govt. Boys High School and Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School in Piran Ghaib (Multan), reaching hundreds of students.

In addition to exhibitions, the Multan Unit — like other Caravan units — contributes to PSF’s broader mission of science popularization: it helps spark curiosity in science, provides hands-on learning, and reaches communities that might otherwise have little or no access to labs or planetarium shows. Through these efforts, PSF attempts to foster scientific literacy, inspire youth toward science, and bridge educational gaps in underserved regions.
