Science Caravan Peshawar Unit

The Peshawar Unit of the Science Caravan is one of the regional mobile-science exhibition units operated by PSF, aimed at bringing science awareness, hands-on learning, and astronomy experiences to schools and communities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and surrounding areas. Pakistan Science Foundation Like other Caravan units, the Peshawar Unit carries working scientific models, lab equipment (for physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics), computers, and multimedia tools; it also includes a portable “star-lab / planetarium” system for astronomy demonstrations.

Over the years, the Peshawar Unit has organized numerous science exhibitions in various schools. For example, in 2016 it arranged exhibitions at multiple schools including in Timergara (Dir), Charsadda, and in Peshawar city, attracting thousands of students and many teachers. In another instance (2017), the Peshawar Unit arranged exhibitions at locations such as Thana Malakand and Chakdara (Dir), where more than 2,100 students and teachers from 11 schools participated.

The Peshawar Unit, therefore, serves as a critical outreach mechanism for PSF in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa — bridging gaps in science education for students in remote or under-resourced areas by giving them access to interactive experiments, models, astronomy-related demonstrations, and scientific films/documentaries. Through this initiative, PSF aims to spark curiosity, motivate interest in science, and promote scientific literacy among youth who might otherwise lack access to labs or planetariums.
